Xerriks are bulldog-like animals used by the Charonites as guard-dogs. Despite their small size, they can be incredibly fierce.

Physiology[]

Appearance[]

Xerriks are stocky animals, covered in blue and black blotches. They have two large spikes on their shoulders. These spikes are brittle, being composed of keratin. These are used for display.

Ecology[]

In the wild, these animals combine aspects of both predators and scavengers, acting like either one depending on what food is available. However, they are extremely rare in the wild now, as most have been domesticated by the Charonites.

Domestication[]

Charonites have kept tame Xerriks for as long as their history goes, which means they have been domesticated for around 3 million years. Because of this, many different breeds of Xerrik have been developed, some varying greatly from the original form.

Most Xerriks are used as guard-dogs, due to their territorial instincts. Some are kept simply as pets, however.

Xerrik Fighting[]

In the Charonite underground, there exists a brutal sport called "Xerrik Fighting". In this sport, two or more Xerriks are forced to fight each other in a confined area. The fight is continued until all but one have been ripped to shreds. This sport is illegal all over Charon.
