The Dilepis is a type of arboreal dolosid native to Kaventro.
Physiology[]
Dilepis are distinguished from other dolosids by having a large, colorful crest on their heads. Their hands and feet are also modified for an arboreal lifestyle. These creatures are not very fast.
Like all Kaventran dolosids, they can change color.
Habitat[]
These dolosids live in the Epsilon Forest. They are preyed upon by the Terrorteeth, which inhabit the same area. They are often chosen by young Terrorteeth as their first hunting targets, because Dilepis are slow-moving.
Diet[]
Dilepis are herbivores, eating leaves, shoots, and fruits in the trees.
History[]
When the Salsenes and Atrenids explored Kaventro, the Dilepis was the final piece in a taxonomic puzzle. The Terrorteeth and Baccapulmons had already been discovered, and both dolosids happened to share the ability to change color. Then, the Dilepis was found to also change color. This probably means that dolosids as a whole (excepting the Geckas, which branched off earlier in the family tree) can change color.
